GMO Facts – Pros and Cons

Benefit the Environment

Many people often think that a genetically modified organism is harmful and toxic to the environment. However, this is not actually true. GM crops enable us to apply fewer pesticides and grow more productive crops with less land. Both of these benefits play an important role in conservation efforts and biodiversity preservation. Some GM plants can even tolerate drought, thus helping farmers preserve the water sources in drought periods. Another benefit of GMOs to the environment is the reduced use of chemicals and fossil fuels and lower levels of chemical emissions as farmers can spend less time on their tractors for stilling soil.
