Faslodex and Its Uses

Faslodex is a prescription medication typically used for treating some types of breast cancer in adult women. The active ingredient is fulvestrant. This drug works by blocking the estrogen level released by the body, which prevents cancer cells from developing and spreading. Faslodex is available in the liquid in prefilled syringes. Doctors may inject it into the muscle around the buttocks. This procedure should be done in the doctor’s office. [1]

Faslodex is prescribed for treating HR+ breast cancer in the following ways:

– In postmenopausal females with HER2- advanced breast cancer who have never went through hormone therapy before

– In postmenopausal females with advanced breast cancer that became worse after preceding hormone therapy

– Combined with ribociclib in postmenopausal females with HER2- metastatic or advanced breast cancer whose breast cancer became worse after preceding hormone therapy or who have never had hormone therapy

– Combined with abemaciclib or palbociclib in females with HER2- metastatic or advanced breast cancer that became worse after hormone therapy [2]
