Swank Diet

A planned and well-balanced diet plays an important role in treating any chronic disorder like multiple sclerosis. Developed in the 50s, the Swank diet is popularly adopted by many people as a complementary and dietary approach to managing the symptoms of this condition.[4] It is a very low-fat diet that emphasizes lean proteins, veggies, fruit, and whole grains. Here are several basic rules to follow:

– Limit unsaturated fat like oils from 20 to 50g per day
– Don’t consume more than 15g of saturated fat each day
– Avoid eating red meat like wild game or port during the first year
– Dairy products should contain less than 1% butterfat
– Avoid processed foods, mineral supplement, and multivitamin
