Bruxism (Teeth Grinding) – Symptoms & Causes

Bruxism is a health issue in which people clench or grind their teeth. They would do it unconsciously either during sleep or when they are awake. Mild cases might not need treatments. Nevertheless, the condition would also lead to many severe problems in some cases, such as headaches, jaw disorders, or damaged teeth. Facial Pain

One of the most common symptoms of bruxism is facial pain, especially when you stop clenching the teeth. This happens because this condition would affect the nerves around your mouth and cause inflammation. Earache could also happen, partly because some parts of the temporomandibular joints are located near the ear canal. Headaches in the temples are another possible sign. It is triggered by muscle pain related to the temporalis muscles. Many people would also experience referral pain, which means the sensation and the source can be different. [1]
