What Is Multiple Sclerosis?
Multiple sclerosis is a medical condition that causes the immune system to gradually damage the myelin sheath covering the spinal cord nerves and brain. It is a progressive disease, which would become worse over time. There are many types of multiple sclerosis. They can involve different periods of flares and remissions. People with some forms of multiple sclerosis may feel better before flares occur again. In some rare circumstances, the disease may even affect their talking and walking capabilities. Early signs of multiple sclerosis usually occur between the ages of 20 and 40. [1]
