Surgery
In severe cases when your hamstring is seriously injured or torn, the muscle can detach from the bones. Surgery is needed to reattach it to the shinbone or pelvis. During this process, the doctor will pull the hamstring back to the original area and remove surrounding scar tissues. It takes up to 3 or 6 months to fully recover from surgery. You might need to put on a leg brace or use crutches to support your body. [10]
