Alleviate MRSA Symptoms
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus(MRSA) is an infection caused by a type of staph bacteria, which could be resistant to many antibiotics. There is almost no effect on conventional antibacterial treatments due to the overuse of antibiotics. However, researchers found out that manuka honey is particularly potent for MRSA treatment thanks to its high levels of dihydroxyacetone, which produces methylglyoxal (MG), a compound thought to have antibacterial and cell-killing properties. By affecting the molecular structure and inhibiting the growth of bacteria, manuka honey could also help antibiotics become more effective against drug-resistant infections. [8]
