Is It Safe to Do Pilates While I’m Pregnant?

Pilates during Third Trimester

In this last period of pregnancy, the growing bump becomes bigger. As a result, the body requires more energy to function. The main focus on the third trimester includes reverse Kegels and contraction work to help release and relax the pelvic floor muscles and range of motion. The bump may worsen spinal curves, pull the lower back to lordosis, and round the shoulders forward. Therefore, pilates exercises would help improve the strength of the back and open up your body’s front. Gentle stretches and movements are the key to performing pilates during this period. Avoid putting too much pressure and well prepare for the coming delivery. [8]
