What is Tetralogy of Fallot

Diagnosis

In some cases, Tetralogy of Fallot can be diagnosed with an ultrasound when the babies are still in the uterus. The doctor would also diagnose the condition right after the delivery when he or she notices a murmur or bluish skin. Most cases can be detected in infancy. But if the symptoms are mild, this process can be hard. Some common tests that can be used to diagnose Tetralogy of Fallot include cardiac catheterization, a pulse oximetry test to check for the level of oxygen in the blood, a heart MRI to find out structural issues, an echocardiogram to detect disrupted heartbeats, and an X-ray on the chest area to look for structural abnormalities.
