What is Pseudogout?

Diagnosis

To diagnose pseudogout, a doctor might need to do one of the following tests:

– A CT or MRI scan to check for signs of calcium buildup

– An ultrasound to look for parts with calcium buildup

– An X-ray around the joints to look for possible damages and calcium buildup in the cartilage or joint cavities

– An analysis of joint fluid to check for calcium pyrophosphate crystals

Since pseudogout has many similar signs with other illnesses, your doctor needs to rule them out, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and especially gout.[5]
