What Is Inflammation?
Inflammation is natural response of the body’s immune system to illness and injury. It occurs when inflammatory substances in the blood are activated to prevent foreign invaders, such as viruses and bacteria, from attacking healthy cells. When you are wounded or injured, this mechanism plays an important part in the healing and recovery process. Inflammatory can be divided into two types: acute and chronic. Acute inflammation is good as it helps the body health. On the other hand, chronic inflammation is bad as it is linked to chronic diseases, such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, or arthritis. [1]
