In some rare cases when fibroids interfere with your daily lives, surgery might be suggested. However, keep in mind that this option should only be considered when you do not respond to other treatment options. There are two common procedures for this purpose: a myomectomy and a hysterectomy. During a myomectomy, the doctor will remove the masses but keep other parts of the reproductive system. On the other hand, a hysterectomy will remove the whole reproductive system and the fibroids. This would prevent the occurrence of this condition in the future. However, women after a hysterectomy cannot be pregnant anymore. [10]
