Umbilical Hernia – Symptoms and Causes

Vomiting and Nausea

Vomiting and nausea are not often reported in less severe cases of umbilical hernia. The presence of this symptom is a clear sign that the condition is becoming strangulated. This means it would affect the intestine by changing or even blocking the food flow through the digestive system. As a result, an intestinal back-up would occur and lead to a nauseating sensation. In mild cases when the intestine is not blocked completely, you might just notice mild symptoms, such as reduced appetite or nausea without vomiting.[3]
