Symptoms in Children
Social anxiety disorder usually occurs in adults, but it would also present in children. Similar to adolescents, kids with this condition are typically afraid of any possible criticism or judgment from surrounding people. Therefore, they tend to find ways of avoiding several social situations. It is important for parents or teachers to understand that these are not bad behaviors. These children often cling to their parents, refuse to play with friends, have a tantrum if forced into social situations, and many other physical symptoms mentioned above. [12]
