Sinus Tachycardia – Facts to Know

Types

There are many reasons for developing sinus tachycardia. The underlying cause is likely to determine the possible outcome of people with this condition. In general, sinus tachycardia can be divided into two main forms:

– Normal sinus tachycardia: this type happens when your heart beats faster because of a clear cause, such as emotional distress, stimulants, or exercise.

– Inappropriate sinus tachycardia occurs without a clear cause. People with this type might have an increased heart rate at rest. Studies have shown that inappropriate sinus tachycardia can be attributed to an improperly high “set point” for our heart. Many doctors would sometime misdiagnose this condition as a sign of depression or other mental issues. [2]
