Added Sugar

Foods which naturally contain sugar such as veggies and fruits are healthy to consume. However, refined carbs would cause your pancreas to release a larger amount of insulin and raise the level of triglycerides, which can be risk factors for pancreatitis. Thus, it is better to stay away from added sugars in soft drinks, desserts, or cereals. Eat pastries and candy sparingly, read the labels carefully, and consider sweetening tea and coffee with other options rather than sugar. When checking the ingredients, avoid products with words like “dextrose”, “high-fructose syrup”, or “glucose”, or “sucrose”. Ideally, the recommended amounts for added sugars for general adults are 25 to 35 grams or 100 to 140 calories per day. [14]
