Hypernatremia Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Symptoms

Dehydration

This is another symptom that accompanies hypernatremia. Dehydration is a severe loss of body fluid that impairs the normal function of the body. This is the reason patients of hypernatremia feel thirsty more than usual. As this ailment worsens, the thirst increases because the body is losing lots of fluid which results in dehydration. With this symptom, hypernatremia becomes life-threatening and dangerous as patients will begin to experience confusion, muscle twitches and seizures. Taking fluid and administering intravenous fluid can correct this symptom but the best way to treat this symptom is to deal with the underlying disease. [3]
