Needle Sharing
Sharing syringes, needles, and other equipment for drug injections would increase the risk of developing hepatitis C. In fact, intravenous drug use is one of the main causes of this infection. Many illegal drug users tend to share a needle to inject some substances. This allows the virus to spread and grow easily. Even when the tool is cleaned thoroughly, the risk is still high. Many states and cities have some programs for safe needle exchanges, which offer a spot for people to get sterile, new needles by turning in their used ones. The main goal is to prevent the development of infectious diseases such as AIDS, HCV, or HBV. [2]
