Grand Mal Seizure – Symptoms & Causes

Muscle Weakness

People with a grand mal seizure might experience a sudden loss of strength in their muscles. This occurs during the atonic stage when the brain areas that are responsible for controlling muscles are affected. Due to this sudden loss, you would fall to the ground and face serious risks of injuries. But this does not happen for all cases because several minor conditions just affect the eyelids, head, or several parts of the body. The muscles tend to go limp and cause an unexpected drop. The seizure tends to last no more than 15 seconds. You might still remain conscious during this period. [3]
