Decompression surgery used to be a treatment option for Bell’s palsy. This procedure can open the bone passage through which the nerve passes, which helps alleviate the pressure on your facial nerve. However, it is not a recommended option these days due to the possible risk of permanent hearing loss and facial nerve injury.
In some serious cases, plastic surgery can be done to deal with facial nerve issues. This procedure can restore some facial movements and make your face look more even. Some options include nerve grafts, facial implants, eyelid lift, or eyebrow lift. An eyebrow lift and some procedures should be repeated after a few years. [8]
