Symptoms of Bell’s Palsy
People with Bell’s palsy tend to show symptoms around 7 to 14 days after they have an eye infection, ear infection, or a cold. These signs often show up suddenly. You would notice then when drinking, eating, or getting up in the morning.
The most typical symptom is a droopy look on the affected part of your face. This makes it more difficult to close or open the eye or smile on that part. In some rare cases, both parts of the face can be affected. Other typical signs include difficulty drinking and eating, drooling, facial weakness, difficulty frowning or smiling, headache, dry mouth and eye, facial muscle twitches, sensitivity to sound, and headache. If you notice one of these problems, make sure to visit your healthcare provider as soon as possible. Avoid self-diagnosing Bell’s palsy because these typical signs can be easily mistaken for those of other conditions like a brain tumor or a stroke. [2]
