Endometrial Hyperplasia
Endometrial hyperplasia is a condition in women’s reproductive system that happened when the endometrium abnormally grows thicker because of cell hyperplasia. The disease is very prevalent in the United States, with an incidence of 133 out of 100,000 women. Based on the types of cell change in the endometrium, endometrial hyperplasia could be classified into simple endometrial hyperplasia (without atypia) and simple/complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia. The former is unlikely to progress to cancer, and most patients could naturally regress with proper treatments. Simple/complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia shows a high risk of cancer progression. It is advisable to seek early treatment to slow down hyperplasia in the endometrium. [3]
