Anti-inflammatory Drugs
Anti-inflammatory drugs are usually the first treatment for Crohn’s disease when you have some mild symptoms and infrequent flares. There are 2 main kinds of anti-inflammatory medications doctors often prescribe for treating Crohn’s disease. These are corticosteroids and 5-aminosalicylates. Corticosteroids can be used for more serious symptoms but you should only take it for a short time. If they don’t work, then some immune system suppressors might be used to target immune responses of the body rather than the inflammation. [6]
