Calcinosis Cutis and Scleroderma

Calcinosis cutis usually happens along with scleroderma, also known as systemic sclerosis. It is particularly found in the limited type of this condition called CREST syndrome or limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis. Around 25 percent to 40 percent of people with CREST syndrome actually suffers from calcinosis cutis after a decade. The lesions often show up around the elbows and fingers.
