Atonic Seizure – Symptoms, Causes, Treatments and More

Atonic seizures in Toddlers and Babies

In general, atonic seizures are a rare type of seizures. They tend to be more prevalent in children than in adults. It is estimated that around 30 percent of kids with epilepsy may experience atonic seizures. Symptoms usually first start during early childhood or infancy. Depending on the underlying cause, atonic seizures would appear in children from 1 to 6 years old. Symptoms of this condition are similar in both adults and children. However, only the head of certain children would drop. This is especially prevalent in babies who cannot stand. [4]
