Ingrown Fingernail
Ingrown fingernails would happen when you bite or clip the nail too close to its nail bed. Fungal infection or an injury may also be the possible cause. This issue is more prevalent on the toes, but the fingernails can also be affected. You may feel pain when applying pressure to these affected nails. Other possible signs include redness, swelling, bleeding, and tenderness. You can try certain home remedies to relieve the pain, such as wearing a bandage, applying an antibiotic cream, or soaking in warm water. If the condition does not improve and causes further complications, such as irritated ingrown nails, increased swelling, or fever, it may indicate an infection. In these cases, your doctor may suggest other treatment options, such as prescribed steroids or antibiotics, surgery to remove the affected nails, inserting cotton under the nails, or taping the nails.
