Subungual Tumors
Subungual tumors can be either malignant or benign growths under the nails. They may lead to extreme pain under the fingernail. In most cases, this condition should be diagnosed by a doctor for early detection and proper treatment. Subungual tumors can be diagnosed with certain imaging techniques. The doctor may also remove some tissues from the tumor for further analysis in the lab. You need to seek immediate medical attention when:
– An excessive amount of swelling occurs on the affected nails
– You notice red streaks around the nails
– You bleed excessively and cannot control it
– The nail is popped out or open
– You have worsening or extreme pain
– Your fingernail injuries or pain do not improve after a couple of weeks or even longer [3]
