Psychological Effects of Psoriasis

What Is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes skin cells to accumulate quickly. This chronic condition may lead to scaling the surface of the skin. Redness and inflammation around the affected areas are quite common. In some cases, these spots would bleed and crack. Symptoms of psoriasis tend to occur on knee and elbow joints, but they can also develop on other parts of the body, such as the face, scalp, neck, feet, and hands. Psoriasis is commonly linked to some other diseases, such as depression, anxiety, psoriatic arthritis, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and type 2 diabetes. [1]
