6 Types of Seizures

Complex Focal Seizure

Unlike simple focal seizures that often occur in brain areas related to movements and senses, complex focal seizures mostly happen in the brain’s temporal lobe. This region plays an important role in controlling emotions and memories. This type of seizure also lasts longer, typically between 1 and 2 minutes. Some typical symptoms include loss of consciousness, gagging, laughing, crying, screaming, running, or lip-smacking. It usually takes a couple of minutes for people with a complex focal seizure to demonstrate these signs. [5]
