Diuretic
Diuretics are also called water pills because they help get rid of water from the body. They are quite effective for high blood pressure. Diuretics work by stimulating your kidneys to release more sodium into your urine. The sodium they take water with it from the blood, which decreases the amount of fluid flowing through your blood vessels and automatically reduces blood pressure. With diuretics, be prepared to pee more often than before. There are three classifications of diuretics, and each classification is used depending on your health problems. The three classifications are thiazide diuretics, loop diuretics, and potassium-sparing diuretics.[6]
