Stages of Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder can be divided into 3 predictable stages, which occur in the period from 2 to 3 years. The good news is that the early phase is the most restrictive and painful one, so its symptoms would improve quickly. Three stages include:
– Freezing: Pain gradually increases, making it harder to move your shoulder. You might feel worse at night. It often lasts from 1 to 9 months.
– Frozen: Pain might decrease, but your shoulder still remains stiff. This stage might last between 4 and 6 months with restricted movements.
– Thawing: Your movement might be easier and return to normal. Pain might subside but often recur. This stage lasts from 0.5 to 2 years. [9]
