Food Additives
Intolerance to food additives is increasingly becoming a common problem. In general, these substances are added to improve flavors, boost the look, and increase the shelf life. Common additives include emulsifiers, artificial flavorings and colorings, antioxidants, sweeteners, preservatives, and flavor enhancers. While there are thousands of options used by food manufacturers, only a small number can trigger symptoms. Common triggers include nitrates, monosodium glutamate or MSG, sulfites, annatto, and carmine.[9]
