Processed Foods
Many people choose processed foods to save time on cooking. Examples include deep-fried products, processed meats (sausages, bacon, and ham), premade frozen meals, and chips. In general, these products are high in fat, salt, added sugar, and many preservatives. Consuming too much of these substances would result in health issues. More importantly, they typically contain preservatives and additives that would trigger symptoms of IBS. Studies have also shown that too much processed foods on a daily basis may even increase the risk of other health issues, such as high blood pressure, obesity, and cancer. Therefore, it is better to purchase fresh produce and cook at home to enjoy healthy meals. [5]
