How Do I Defer Medicare Coverage?

You Currently Have CHAMPVA or TRICARE Coverage

Retired and active duty military members and their family members can be qualified for TRICARE, a health insurance plan funded by the Department of Defense. Other people, such as surviving children and spouses, can be qualified for the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA). Both CHAMPVA and TRICARE participants are qualified for premium-free Medicare Part A. In addition, they need to enroll in Medicare Part B to keep the current plan. In case they are not qualified for premium-free Part A, there is no need to enroll for Medicare Parts A and B. [5]
