What Conditions Can Be Misdiagnosed as Psoriasis?

Mycosis Fungoides

Mycosis fungoides is a type of blood cancer. It may cause rash-like, scaly spots on the skin. In the early phases, these areas can be very itchy. The first part to be affected is typically the buttocks. When the condition progresses, the spots may appear somewhere else and lead to widespread redness. A skin biopsy may help diagnose mycosis fungoides. Many people may mistake mycosis fungoides for psoriasis in early phases. However, this form of blood cancer may be followed by swollen lymph nodes and enlarged liver or pancreas. [1]
