Paid-Premium Medicare Part A for People Who Have Never Work
If people do not meet the above-mentioned requirements or have not worked long enough to get premium-free Medicare Part A, it is still possible to receive the benefits by paying the premiums monthly on your own. To enroll, they need to be at least 65 years old and either a citizen of the US or a lawfully admitted noncitizen who has been living in the country for at least 5 years. If they purchase Part A, they also have to buy Part B and pay monthly premiums. As of 2022, the premium for Medicare Part A would be up to $499 a month. For Medicare Part B, you may need to pay around $170.1 per month. However, the premium can be higher for those with a higher level of income. [6]
