What is Inflammatory Arthritis?

Main Types of Inflammatory Arthritis

There are 3 most common forms of inflammatory arthritis, including ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, there are many other types. In people with musculoskeletal problems, inflammatory conditions without joint involvement might include polymyalgia rheumatica, tendinitis, or bursitis. Those with 1 to 3 joints involved might have an acute condition like chlamydial arthritis, reactive arthritis, pseudogout, gout, infectious arthritis, or a chronic condition like pauciarticular juvenile arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, or psoriatic arthritis. When 4 or more joints involved, you might have an acute inflammatory condition like drug-induced arthritis, viral arthritis, rheumatic fever, early connective tissue disease, or palindromic rheumatism, or a chronic inflammatory condition like lupus, mixed connective tissue disease, inflammatory osteoarthritis, scleroderma, undifferentiated scleroderma, or rheumatoid arthritis.[2]
