Hypoparathyroidism Diet
People with hypoparathyroidism should follow a diet that is low in phosphorus and high in calcium. Some calcium-rich foods include leafy green veggies, almonds, beans, fortified orange juice, fortified cereals, dairy products, apricots, prunes, and oats. Several phosphorus-rich foods could considerably reduce calcium levels. Thus, you should avoid or limit the consumption of red meat, eggs, soft beverages, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, trans fats, and refined pasta or white bread. Make sure to drink sufficient fluids on a daily basis to keep a balance of electrolytes. Always consult your doctor before making any adjustments on your diet to take in a sufficient amount of essential nutrients and vitamins. [8]
