What Causes Common Warts

Risk Factors for Common Warts

Since common warts are mainly caused by the human papillomavirus, they are more common in those people with a weakened immune system. Young adults and children are at high risk as their bodies might not have grown fully to resist the virus. Similarly, those people who have HIV/AIDS or just had organ transplants might have a compromised immune system. It is important to know that the immune system of each person will respond differently to human papillomavirus. Therefore, not everyone who contacts directly with the virus would develop common warts. [3]
