Types of Depression

Persistent Depression

Unlike other types, chronic or persistent depression often lasts more than 2 years. Some typical symptoms include appetite changes, lack of interest in hobbies, low self-esteem, deep hopelessness or sadness, social withdrawal, inability to enjoy life, difficulty functioning at work or school, low energy, insomnia, and memory or concentration issues. Compared to major depression, these problems are not so intense. However, they could still affect your daily lives and other relationships. [3]
