The Symptoms of Norovirus

Low-Grade Fever

Just like other infections, a norovirus infection may cause a fever. This is a defense mechanism of the body to get rid of the invaders. The body basically increases the temperature, thus making the virus more susceptible to attacks by the immune system. In most cases, you may have a low-grade fever that may improve after 1 or 2 days. When it persists, visit your healthcare provider to avoid further health problems. [5]

Headache

Due to high body temperatures and low-grade fever caused by a norovirus infection, the blood vessels would become dilated. When the head is affected, it will increase blood pressure. As a result, the protective membranes in your brain would be inflamed and become painful. A headache can also happen as a result of dehydration caused by diarrhea or excessive vomiting. This symptom tends to last 1 to 3 days, but it may also last longer. Ask your doctor for some painkillers or proper treatments when the pain lasts longer. [6]
