Symptoms of Esophageal Cancer that You Should Know

Difficulty Swallowing

The most common sign of esophageal cancer is dysphagia, often known as difficulty swallowing. In fact, this symptom is reported in up to 90 percent of people with the condition. When cancerous cells grow, they may narrow the esophagus, making it more difficult for food to pass. You may feel it takes longer than usual for food to go down and a choking feeling. Swallowing issues tend to occur when you eat solid food, such as raw veggies, bread, or meat. To prevent discomfort, you may make some diet changes, such as consuming liquid or semisolid foods and chewing more thoroughly. [2]
