Differences of Sleep Apnea in Children versus Adults
All people with sleep apnea may have reduced sleep quality due to repeated disruption during the night. However, daytime symptoms may be not the same between children and adults. Children tend to experience behavior problems, such as hyperactivity and concentration issues, while adults tend to feel tired and drowsy during the day. In addition, treatment options for apnea are also different in both age groups. Surgery is the most common procedure for children, while CPAP is the most option for adults. Some orthodontic procedures are only useful for actively growing kids and are not suitable for grown-up people with sleep apnea. [4]
