Rotator Cuff Injury – Diagnosis & Treatment

Imaging Tests

Some imaging tests might detect a tear in the rotator cuff. MRI or magnetic resonance imaging is the most common option. It can show both partial and complete tears, as well as evidence of other forms, such as shoulder bursitis or tendinosis. Some other helpful procedures include an ultrasound, an arthrogram, or an X-rays. Even though a rotator cuff does not show up clearly on an X-ray, the test would visualize possible causes for your pain, such as bone spurs or arthritis. [3]
