Causes and Risk Factors for Oral Psoriasis

Genetics

There is a link between genetics and oral psoriasis. While scientist has not found the exact association, they believe that there are at least 25 genetic mutations that would increase the risk of developing this condition. Among these, CARD14 is the major risk factor. Keep in mind that having one or more of these genetic mutations does not necessarily mean that you will get oral psoriasis. Children with two parents with this disease may be more likely to have it. [3]
