Progestin Therapy
Progestin is the synthetic version of progesterone, a naturally occurring hormone in the body. Your doctor would recommend progestin therapy when menometrorrhagia is caused by a hormonal imbalance. It is often available in pills, which should be taken for 3 consecutive weeks and then stop for 1 week. Progestin can be helpful in thinning the uterine lining and alleviating blood flow during a menstrual period. The recommended dosage is around 2.5 to 10 mg on a daily basis. [9]
