Types of Breast Cancer
Based on the expression of genes, breast cancer can be divided into 5 main types:
– Luminal A breast cancer is low-grade, grows slowly, and tend to has better prognosis than other subtypes
– Luminal B breast cancer tends to grow a bit more quickly than luminal A and has slightly worse prognosis
– HER-2 enriched breast cancer tends to develop more quickly than luminal subtypes and have worse prognosis. However, they can be treated successfully with targeted therapies
– Triple-negative breast cancer is more common in Black and younger women
– Normal-like breast cancer is quite similar to luminal A breast cancer, but the prognosis is a bit worse [2]
