Luminal B Breast Cancer – Symptoms, Causes, Risk Factors, Diagnosis, Treatments and Outlook

Luminal B Breast Cancer and the Signs and Symptoms

Luminal B is a molecular subtype of breast cancer. The main features include:

– A high level of Ki-67, a type of protein

– Being either HER2-negative or HER2-positive

– Being HR-positive, including progesterone receptor-positive, estrogen receptor-positive, or both

Compared to luminal A breast cancer, luminal B breast cancer tends to grow a bit more quickly and has slightly worse prognosis. [3]

Symptoms of luminal B breast cancer are similar to other forms of breast cancer. Typical signs include nipple discharge, nipple inversion, lump under the arm or in the breast, change in breast shape or size, swollen or thickened breast, and dimpling, flaky, or red skin around the breast. However, breast cancer does not always cause these symptoms, especially in the early stages. It can be helpful to get familiar with the typical feel and look of your breasts to notice any abnormal changes quickly. Regular screenings may also help detect the condition early. If you notice any of these symptoms, make sure to visit your healthcare provider as soon as possible. It is easier to treat breast cancer in early stages before it spreads to other parts of the body.
