Indigestion (Dyspepsia) – Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

Diet

Certain foods and drinks in the diet would trigger symptoms of indigestion. You often feel these issues within 2 or 3 hours after a meal. Even when you have never had a food sensitivity in the past, it is still possible to develop sensitivities or intolerances during the lifetime. To identify triggers, you can make a list of suspected drinks or foods and then gradually eliminate them from the diet in 14 days. During this time, notice whether your indigestion problems improve. After that, reintroduce each food and note whether you have these symptoms again. Some common foods that would cause indigestion include chocolate, carbonated beverages, fatty and heavy foods, spicy foods, and caffeine. [4]
