Medical Conditions
In addition to hypoparathyroidism, hypocalcemia can be caused by other medical conditions. Some forms of cancer, such as blood, breast, and lung would increase the risks of developing this condition. In some cases, metastasis or the spreading of cancer to the bones could also trigger this health issue. Some problems like constipation, diarrhea, and other digestive disorders would affect the capability of the body to absorb calcium properly from foods. Diabetes, sarcoidosis, pancreatitis, hypomagnesemia, septic shock, and tuberculosis can be other possible causes of hypocalcemia. [5]
